What is WRO?

A global movement for young builders.

The World Robot Olympiad is a global movement that inspires students to explore STEM through hands-on robotics challenges. What started as a small regional event has grown, over two decades, into the world's premier youth robotics competition. Teams build, code, and compete — developing engineering, programming, problem-solving, and teamwork skills along the way. The US Engineering League (USEL) is the official US National Organizer for WRO.

Four ways to compete

Pick the track that fits your team's age and ambition.

RoboMission
Design, construct, and program an autonomous robot to solve challenges on a field. The robot needs to be able to make its own decisions during the run.

Elementary (8–12) · Junior (11–15) · Senior (14–19)
Team
2–3 students + a coach
RoboSports
Two teams each deploy two autonomous robots to compete head-to-head in a sports game. The game changes every 3–4 years — the current game is Double Tennis.

Future Innovators
A project-based challenge: teams create their own innovative robotics solution relating to the season's theme, then present it to judges who evaluate both the robot and the innovation.

An advanced category tackling real-world engineering problems. The current challenge is autonomous driving — building a robot with its own steering control navigation.

Who can take part?

WRO categories cover students ages 8–19, based on the age a student turns during the competition year. RoboMission and Future Innovators run Elementary (8–12), Junior (11–15), and Senior (14–19) divisions; RoboSports covers ages 11–19; Future Engineers covers ages 14–19. Teams are 2–3 students plus an adult coach.

How much does registration cost?

Each event sets its own registration fee — you'll see it on the event page before you register. Payment is by card at checkout, with a 3% card processing fee. You'll also need a valid USEL season pass in your event's category.

How do I register my team?

Sign in with your USEL coach email — no password, we email you a secure link. Then pick your event, choose your team, and pay online. Your spot is confirmed the moment payment clears.

What if I don't have a season pass or a team yet?

Season passes are sold on the USEL storefront, and teams are managed in your USEL coach account — set those up first, then come back and register.
